When to Apply For Study In USA
Ideally, you’re supposed to start preparing for the application process at least 12-18 months in advance so that you have enough time for preparation. Some universities accept applications throughout the year, but deadlines vary based on the school and intake. Learn More…
USA Intakes
There are 3 intakes in the USA:
Fall intake – This is the primary intake and lasts from September to December.
Spring intake – This intake usually lasts from January to May and is the second most opted-for.
Summer intake – Only selected universities have a summer intake. It starts in May.
Program Duration to Study in USA
To study in USA, you need atleast 2-4 years depending on the course or program:
- UG Bachelor’s Program – 3-4 years
- PG Master’s Program – 2 year

Stay Back
Students are eligible to apply for OPT (Optional Practical Training) for 12-28 months, depending on the course and degree they have completed, which allows them to stay back and work in the country.
Tests Required
To study in USA, you must pass any of these English language proficiency tests:
IELTS: IELTS is trusted by 11,000+ universities worldwide, making it one of the most widely accepted English language proficiency tests. You need a minimum of 6.0 bands average IELTS score to get into a decent university and study in USA.
PTE: PTE stands for Pearson Test of English (PTE). It’s a fully automated test. To get into a reputable university, a minimum of PTE 50 is required.
TOEFL: TOEFL stands for Test of English as a Foreign Language. You need a minimum 69-79 score to get into the university of your choice.

- Undergraduate Provisional Certificate / Convocation – Transcripts.
- 2 Recommendation Letters – Duly attested by the concerned recommender.
- Personal Statement / SOP.
- Resume / CV.
- Financial Certificate/Bank balance Certificate approximately for INR 25Lakhs(Please mention equivalent US$ at current exchange value)
- Affidavit of Support from the sponsor (if different from the student himself)
- Any other certificate related to academic/extracurricular activities

Does the USA allow students to work part-time?
It is generally allowed to work part-time on campus while you study in USA. However, off-campus employment regulations are more restrictive. Students need to adhere to the rules outlined by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the terms of their visa.
What are the job opportunities in the USA after graduation?
The USA offers various job opportunities for international students after graduation. The Optional Practical Training (OPT) program allows students on F-1 visas to work in their field of study for up to 12 months (or up to 36 months for STEM degree holders) after completing their academic program.
Can I bring my family with me to the USA after my studies?
Yes, you can bring your family to the USA after your studies. The F-1 student visa allows for dependents (spouses and unmarried children under 21) to accompany you, but they will need to obtain F-2 visas. However, they won’t be eligible to work while in the USA.
Can I study in USA without taking my IELTS?
